Thanks to everyone who attended the Spring home composting workshop on April 30th, 2011 at the Warwick Township Municipal Building!  Ray Leiby, Master Gardener, conducted the workshop and we extend our appreciation to Ray for volunteering his time.

For those who are interested, the Lancaster County Solid Waste Management Authority is partnering with other municipalities, community organizations and Penn State Master Gardeners to conduct additional home composting workshops at the following locations in Lancaster County. Workshop attendees will also learn how to build effective, yet inexpensive home compost bins to meet their needs. Each household in attendance will receive a free kitchen scrap collection bucket courtesy of a Resource Conservation Challenge Grant from the US EPA, Region III.  If required, residents should pre-register by no later than Friday at noon prior to the workshop they'll be attending.

• May 14th at the Reservoir Park pavilion located along E. King St. in Lancaster City. The workshop is from 10 am to 11 am. No fee is required, but pre-registration is recommended for this workshop. • May 15th at Flanagan Park, at the corner of E. Front St. and Pine St. in Marietta Borough. The workshop is from 10 am to 11 am. No fee is required for this workshop. For more information, please contact The Marietta Market at mariettamarket@gmail.com.
       
• May 21st at the Fuhrman Park pavilion in East Donegal Township located at 110 Rock Point Rd., Marietta. If raining, the workshop will be held at the Township building located at 190 Rock Point Rd. The workshop is from 10 am to 11 am. No fee is required, but preregistration is recommended for this workshop.
